We will describe the various types of OSHA inspections and what you can expect to be asked in terms of questions, requests for documents, evidence of your safety program, employee training and other common questions that an OSHA inspector will be interested in.

Why Should You Attend:

Learn how to make your facility safer and avoid incurring a penalty for easily avoided safety violations or infractions. There are several levels of technical compliance with most of the OSHA Standards. Knowing how to interpret and implement some of the basic and intermediate level performance steps can save you a fine and prevent an accident or injury. In addition, your insurance company will love it when you can demonstrate that you took pro-active measures to protect your employees from injuries that could cause a workers comp claim or a loss to the facility, such as a fire, explosion, hazardous material spill etc.

We will cover:

• Routine and periodic inspection frequencies

• Critical inspections such as in advance of capacity lifts using cranes or hoisting

• Inspections based on occupancy, such as schools, nursing homes, residential, industrial, commercial and retail facilities

• Most common failures recorded on inspections

• Learn which records and documents OSHA requires to be maintained, including the POSTER and logs

• OSHA Safety and Industrial Hygiene Inspection protocols – each will look for a different set of safety controls and practices.

• Learn about facility and premises safety features, such as:

o Housekeeping – which is a lot more than just pushing a broom

o Lighting – many accidents are caused by insufficient illumination

o Safety Hardware – such as fire safety gear, eye and face wash, first aid supplies

o Hazardous materials storage- liquid fuel storage, handling, grounding and bonding , industrial gasses, utility lines, etc.

o Parking lots and access areas – these are subject to inspection along with your actual production facilities. Many states will accept a claim for slip & fall injury in a parking lot as Workers Comp. eligible. We will talk about prevention and avoidance of these types of claims as well

• Learn tips and techniques for making your program more resilient at a reasonable cost
