Unconscious or Implicit Bias is a buzz-phrase we may have heard and may even be familiar with, but do we really understand what it is, how it can show up and how we can recognize and address it when it does?
Times have changed and what used to be acceptable in the workplace is being more closely examined and questioned. In order not only to create a safer, more diverse, accepting culture, but to avoid negative confrontations and even legal action, it is vital to understand implicit bias and how it can affect us and others. When it comes to decision-making, hiring, and even conversing it is imperative to challenge our own biases, change stereotypical thinking, and express ourselves in better ways. And then help others to do the same.
