On average, women comprise half of the U.S. workforce. Somewhere along the line, some of your female employees will consider starting a family. This course will assist California employers navigate the sometimes turbulent waters of successfully addressing and managing the issues afoot when an employee is expecting.
California is at the forefront in developing laws which protect the status of pregnant women in the workplace. California law expands further than federal law when it comes to the protection of pregnant women and conditions relating to pregnancy. We have at least four separate pieces of legislation unique to California which address the leave and accommodation needs of pregnant and new mothers. You need to be familiar with each of them, and this course will help you to do that.
Course Objective:
Having completed this course, the participant will be able to identify pregnancy-related issues and better avoid employer liability. We will review the:
• California Fair Employment and Housing Act, which we refer to as the “FEHA”;
• California Pregnancy Disability Leave Law;
• California Family Rights Act, which we refer to as the “CFRA”; and
• California Labor Code.

• Tips for maintaining smart, defensible documentation that you'll need in the event of a lawsuit.
