Duration : 60 Minutes

This webinar will discuss OSHA's new directive on the management of temporary employees. It will discuss who is responsible for the safety of temporary workers. This will be presented in the context of OSHA's mission which is to provide a safe and healthful workplace.

To ensure that there is a clear understanding of each employer's role in protecting employees, OSHA recommends that the temporary staffing agency and the host employer set out their respective responsibilities for compliance with applicable OSHA standards in their contract. Including such terms in a contract will ensure that each employer complies with all relevant regulatory requirements, thereby avoiding confusion as to the employer's obligations.

Course Objectives:

Under the TWI (Temporary Worker Initiative), OSHA has instructed its Compliance Safety & Health Officers (CSHOs) to ask employers during all inspections about whether temporary workers are employed at the work site. If they are, the inspection will focus on the myriad of regulatory compliance issues presented by using temporary workers.

This webinar will address OSHA's initiative focusing on safety and health compliance for temporary workers. This webinar will furthermore focus on OSHA's enforcement initiative; explain the underlying legal principles to determine whether a temporary worker will be considered an employee of the host employer and offer practical advice about how to ensure compliance.
