This 60-minute webinar will examine recent laws and regulations of the United States that govern the production, import and export of semiconductor computer chips. Among the laws to be discussed are the CHIPS and Technology Act, the Inflation Reduction Acts, and regulations government sensitive electronic equipment.
Course Objectives:
During the COVID pandemic, supplies chains were often disrupted. Most notably the supply of computer chips for computers and automobiles were of concern to the US economy. To encourage more production of computer chips and semiconductors in the US, incentives were included in the Inflation Reduction Act. However, also due to increased tensions with China and Russia, the US began to restrict the export of chips and technology from the US to those countries. Many of those restrictions were codified in the CHIPS and Technology Act.
